tree
Live space colonization (Runions): roots anchor on the box rim and branches grow toward scattered light. Separate trees share one tissue map plus a small cross-group aura, so neighbouring branches leave a crown-shyness gap instead of touching.
Root box
Each element is its own tree. Branches thicken over time (da Vinci) and stop at a neighbour's box or branches.

group-relative reflow
Each box is its own group. Opening this panel grows the gap and slides the toggle below down as one piece. Once a group has settled, moving it just translates the finished shape — a jigsaw piece — instead of re-growing it, so neither counter moves.
